Questions guests actually ask

Prices, ages and rules below come from the same catalogue the booking messages use, so nothing here contradicts what we tell you on WhatsApp. Answers are open to read and stay on the page whether you expand them or not.

01Booking & payment5 questions

How a booking is actually made, what it costs to hold, and when money changes hands.

How far ahead do I need to book?
A day or two is usually enough, and we take late bookings when there is room. Room is the real limit: a group is capped at 8 vehicles, so three families asking for the same morning will not all fit. Send the date on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight away whether it is open. Booking early costs nothing, because nothing is paid to hold it.
Is there an online booking form, or do I pay through the website?
Neither. There is no checkout here and no card details are taken online. You message us on WhatsApp, or email hello@pattayaatvadventure.com, with the date, the tour and how many people are driving. We reply with the total and your pickup time, and you pay at the camp on the day. No deposit. Pay in cash or by card at the camp.
Can I pay by card, or should I bring cash?
No deposit. Pay in cash or by card at the camp. Baht in cash is the simplest thing to hand over, and worth having anyway for cold drinks or a tip. Nothing leaves your account between booking and riding, so there is no exchange-rate surprise waiting for you. Every figure we quote is in Thai baht and every one of them is on the prices page.
Do we pay for each rider or for each machine?
Both, depending on what you drive. A quad is priced per rider: ฿2,890 for the driver on the 1.5-hour beginner ride, ฿990 for the passenger behind them. A buggy is priced per vehicle instead: ฿3,190 for the 2-seater on that same tour, and ฿4,590 for the 4-seater, which already carries up to 3 passengers inside the price.
Can I change the date or add people after booking?
Yes, and it costs nothing. You have paid nothing, so a change is just a message: send the new date or the extra riders and we redo the numbers. Adding a driver depends on whether that morning still has a machine free inside the 8-vehicle cap, so the earlier you say, the better. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup.

02Pickup & the day5 questions

Where the van comes, what time it leaves, and what the morning looks like once you reach the camp.

Which areas do you pick up from?
Hotel pickup and drop-off is included from Pattaya, Jomtien and Na Jomtien. Give us the hotel name when you book and the driver comes to the lobby. If you are staying outside those three areas, send the address before you fix a date. We will tell you honestly what is possible and what it would add, rather than sort it out on the morning.
What time is pickup, and when am I back at the hotel?
Pickup is at 08:30. The return depends on the tour you book: 1.5 hours for the beginner ride, up to five for the Ultimate Jungle Adventure. Those hours cover gear, briefing and riding at the camp; the transfer each way sits outside them. We confirm your own pickup time when we confirm the booking.
How many people will be in my group?
A group is capped at 8 vehicles, which with passengers is rarely more than fifteen people. One guide leads and one sweeps the back, so nobody is left alone on the trail, and the pace is set by the most careful rider rather than the quickest. If you would rather have the trail to yourselves, the private upgrade is ฿2,000 per group.
What actually happens in the first half hour at the camp?
Sign-in, gear, then a practice loop. A helmet and gloves are fitted, the guide walks the group through throttle, brake and how a machine behaves in ruts and water, and then you ride an easy loop on open ground where he can watch you start, steer and stop. Only after that does the 16 km of trail begin. The rest of the routine is on the safety page.
Is lunch included?
On the two elephant tours, yes. The 3-hour ATV & Elephant Experience at ฿3,990 per driver and the 5-hour Ultimate both include a Thai lunch at the camp. The shorter ATV-only rides do not; you are back before lunchtime anyway. Tell us in advance if anyone is vegetarian or has an allergy and we will pass it on before the day.

03Who can ride4 questions

Ages, licences, how many machines a group needs, and the honest answer when a body is not up for it.

Do I need a driving licence or an International Driving Permit?
No Thai driving licence is required: the trails are private land. An International Driving Permit is not needed either: an IDP matters for a rented motorbike on a public road, and no part of this route is a public road. Bring a passport copy for the camp register. Drivers must be 16 or over, and passengers ride from 4.
We are four adults: how many machines do we need?
Two quads, or one buggy. A quad seats two, so four adults means two drivers and two passengers: ฿7,760 in total on the beginner ride. The 4-seater buggy is ฿4,590 for the whole vehicle on the same tour, with 3 passenger seats inside that price: cheaper, and everybody stays together. What works with children is set out on the family page.
Is there an upper age limit for drivers?
We do not publish one and we are not going to invent a number. What matters is whether you can hold a throttle for an hour, brace on rough ground and get on and off a machine unaided. If any of that is a question mark, the 4-seater buggy has a seat, a belt and a roll cage, and the passenger seat on a quad asks nothing of you but holding on.
Can I come if I am pregnant, or if I have a bad back or knee?
We would not put you on a quad while pregnant, as a driver or a passenger; 16 km of jungle track is rough by design and the jolts do not stop. For a stiff knee or a sore back a buggy seat is gentler, but tell us plainly on WhatsApp before you book and we will say whether the morning suits you. We would rather lose the booking than get that wrong.

04What to bring4 questions

What to wear on an ATV tour, what is handed to you at the camp, and what should stay in your bag.

Can I ride in flip-flops or sandals?
No, closed shoes are the one rule we hold to about clothing. Your feet sit on open rests beside a hot engine and a spinning tyre, and a sandal is exactly the wrong thing there. Trainers you do not love are perfect. The rest is your call: shorts or light trousers and a T-shirt you are happy to see ruined, because the mud is not optional.
Where do I leave my passport, phone and wallet while I ride?
Bring a passport copy rather than the passport; the camp register only needs the copy. Anything you carry on the trail gets shaken, splashed and dusted, so leave the wallet and the room key in your bag at the camp and take only what you can seal into a zipped pocket. A cheap dry bag or a zip-lock is the difference between photos and a dead phone.
What gear is provided, and what do I bring myself?
A helmet, gloves and the briefing come with every tour, along with drinking water on the trail and third-party insurance. You bring the rest: closed shoes, a change of clothes, a towel, sunscreen, and sunglasses or a buff if dust bothers you. Personal travel insurance is not included and is worth having. Each tour page carries its own included-and-excluded list.
How much cash should I have with me?
Enough for the tour plus a little. Tours run from ฿2,890 to ฿5,990 per driver, with passengers ฿990 to ฿2,990, and all of it is settled at the camp. On top of that people spend on cold drinks or a tip for the guide, neither of which is included and neither of which is expected. Card works too; the full price list is here.

05Elephants4 questions

Which tours include them, what the programme is, and the one thing we will not sell at any price.

Which tours actually include the elephants?
Two of them. The 3-hour ATV & Elephant Experience at ฿3,990 per driver, and the 5-hour Ultimate Jungle Adventure at ฿5,990, which adds the mud bath and the river. The 1.5-hour and 2-hour ATV rides are trail only. There is no riding on either elephant tour: feeding, walking and bathing is the whole programme, and the elephants page explains why.
Is there an extra entry fee for the elephant part?
No. Entry to the elephant programme and the food you hand-feed are inside the tour price: ฿3,990 per driver on the 3-hour combo, ฿5,990 on the 5-hour. Passengers are ฿1,490 and ฿2,990 and take exactly the same part in the feeding. There is no gate fee, no camera fee and no upsell waiting for you at the camp.
How long do we spend with the elephants?
Long enough not to feel hurried, and we would rather say that than print a stopwatch figure that turns out wrong on the day. The 3-hour tour splits its morning between the trail and the feeding and walk. If you want the whole programme, mud bath and river included, at an unhurried pace, book the 5-hour tour instead.
Can we take photos with the elephants?
Yes, and nobody will charge you for it. Phones come out during the feeding and the walk, with a mahout standing beside you throughout. What you will not get is the staged shot on an elephant's back, because there is no riding here at any price and we do not arrange it elsewhere. Our own pictures of the trail and the river are on the gallery page.

06Weather, cancellation & refunds4 questions

Rain, storms, late mornings and the one-line cancellation policy.

How do I cancel, and is there a fee?
Message us. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup. There is no fee and nothing to refund, because no deposit was taken; the tour is paid at the camp. Inside 24 hours we would still rather hear from you than send a van to an empty lobby: say so and we will move you to another morning instead.
What if we are running late for the 08:30 pickup?
Message the driver the moment you know. The van usually collects more than one hotel before it heads out, so a few minutes is absorbed and half an hour is not. If the morning is lost entirely we move you to another day rather than charge you, since nothing was paid up front. 08:30 is the only start time we run to.
Which months are best for an ATV tour in Pattaya?
All of them, for different reasons. November to February is dry and cooler, and the trail is fast and dusty. May to October is the wet season: greener jungle, heavier air, and mud deep enough to be the reason you came. March and April are hot, which is when an 08:30 start earns its keep. We run year-round.
Is it safe to ride when the trail is wet?
Wet is the normal state of a jungle trail for half the year and the route is built for it: private land, no traffic, a guide in front, a sweep behind and a group moving at the speed of its slowest rider. What stops a tour is a storm, not rain, and if that happens you rebook or take a full refund. How we run the trail is set out on the safety page.
